ACRIMONY – THE ACID ELEPHANT e.p. – 1995 (UK) space doom/stoner rock

Another excellent release on Godhead, this time is the follower to the well known ACRIMONY's "Hymns To The Stone". This new MCD is an awesome psychedelic/ doom/groove metal in the vein of CATHEDRAL (except for the vocals who are more clean and powerful), making us remind the doom metal fathers BLACK SABBATH. "The Acid Elephant E.P." serves four tracks: "Spaced Cat #7 (hammond moon-bong mix)", "The Inn", "The Bud Song" and "Fire-Dance (live from the planet Urabalaboom)" (these two last tracks are unreleased songs). The Wales' outfit displays a great production, which will take you easily to the clouds with the memorable chorus and riffs along with hypnotising vocals. This mini-album is indeed stoned rock, and I advise this opus to all metal, 60's rock, 70's rock, hippie, BLACK SABBATH, and stoned fans.

Dorian Walters (vocals)
Lee Davies (guitar)
Stuart O'Hara (guitar)
Paul "Mead" Bidmead (bass)
Darren Ivey (drums)
1 Spaced Cat #7 (hammond moon - bong mix) 7:06
2 The Inn 4:34
3 The Bud Song 8:18
4 Fire-Dance (live from the planet Urabalaboom) 5:05

Before I really tear this apart, I must say that Acrimony has replicated Tony Iommi's late 60's guitar sound better than any band I have ever heard.
And that's the only thing going for the boys. They rip Black Sabbath off so shamelessly even Cathedral would be impressed. One track reshuffled from the last album, a live track and two new piece make up this EP. The cover is cute, but the insides are only for those who truly covet every Sabbath ripoff there has been.

Admittedly, they really sound like Paranoid-era Black Sabbath.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
