CATHEDRAL – COSMIC REQUIEM - 1994 (UK) space doom/stoner rock

Cosmic Requiem was Cathedral's third EP in as many years, but in actual fact, it shared three of four tracks with the same year's Statik Majik EP, and a different version of the fourth ("A Funeral Request - Rebirth") had already made an appearance on the doomsters' debut slothful LP. Therefore, there are better places to shop for these same tracks, among which the slothful "Cosmic Funeral" and the more energetic "Hypnos 164" are the clear standouts. As for the 22-minute colossus "The Voyage of the Homeless Sapien," it's not nearly as interesting its absurd length.

Lee Dorrian (vocals)
Garry 'Gaz' Jennings (guitars)
Adam Lehan (guitars)
Mark Ramsey Wharton (drums)
Scott Carlson (bass)
1 Cosmic Funeral
2 Hypnos 164
3 A Funeral Request - Rebirth
4 The Voyage Of The Homeless Sapien

The song 'Cosmic Funeral' has some great keyboard lines to compliment the main riffs and 'The Voyage of the Homeless Sapien' remains the longest (and weirdest) track Cathedral has ever recorded.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
