BLACKWATER PARK – DIRTY BOX – 1971 (GER) hard rock

Blackwater park was a little- known berlin rock band that recorded its only album in Windrose studios during December 1971. Fans of the guitar driven, blues - flavored heavy progressive rock formula can't go wrong whit ' Dirt Box'. FEaturing a British vocalist, the groups sound can be comparade to the likes of free,Armagedon, and Edgar Broughton Band.

Richard Routledge (vocals, guitar)
Michael Fechner (guitar)
Andreas Scholz (bass)
Norbert Kagelmann (drums)
1 Mental Block 3:18
2 Roundabout 5:45
3 One's Life 3:03
4 Indian Summer 6:10
5 Dirty Face 4:25
6 Rock Song 8:45
7 For Noone 3:25

Great early 70s heavy Krautrock, though not done in traditional Krautrock fasion.
It comes off sounding much more like a British heavy band like Leafhound or Hard Stuff. Still they do a great job, with lots of shredding guitars with catchy rhythms.
It really grows on you with each listen. You'll find yourself whistling 'Indian Summer' by the third listen, guaranteed!
It ranks up there with other heavy German bands of the period, such as 'Gift', 'Jeronimo', or 'Gash'. Original BASF Vinyl copies of this LP can now fetch well into the hundreds of dollars.
So if your looking for a space rock 'Amon Duul II' or 'Faust' type album, don't bother with this. This is pure hard rockin', blowin' yer speakers type stuff!

Highly recommended!
