JAMES GANG – BANG – 1973 (US) heavy progressive

Bang was the first record the James Gang recorded with Tommy Bolin, a former member of Zephyr. While the songs were still fairly undistinguished, Bolin's playing was imaginative and captivating, making the lack of interesting material forgivable.

Excellent Tommy Bolin's debut with the band. As usual in James Gang's history, the new comer walks in with the song credits, but this time, the quality of the songs is outstanding, the best since Joe Walsh left. No wonder he recommended Bolin. This one and Miami lifted the band once again and with Bolin's departure they returned to the second-rate material prior to Bang.

Highly recommended!
